Teachers In The Classroom And Relationship Between Lifelong Learning To
Specific Personality Traits And Self Efficacy by Ammar Basheer
This study is looking to measure the competency of 40 ESL Teachers in promoting LifeLong Learning Skills in their students. Competency will be measured using a structured online interview. The interview will be scored by identifying specific examples, categorizing them into a group of 10 LLL facets that are important for LLL (based on self regulated and motivation theories) and rating them based on its relevance to specific theories and previous research. In addition, the teachers will
be asked to fill out three additional questionnaires: assess their examples to the structured interview from 1 to 5, Big 5 personality questionnaire and Locus of Control questionnaire. The study will focus on openness to experience from the Big 5 and internal control from the locus of control questionnaire. The study hypothesizes that teachers with high competency scores will also have high ‘openness to experience’ and ‘internal control’ scores. The study also hopes to highlight the importance of building additional, easy to use, tools to measure LLL teacher competence.
