INVESTIGATION OF THE LEAN PRODUCTION IMPLEMENTATION FEATURES AND PROBLEMS FOR DIFFERENT ENTERPRISES MASTER THESIS
Аннотация
In a rapidly changing and competitive world, organizations need to develop and improve their performance continuously to ensure a competitive advantage. The first step toward this aim is that the traditional mass production system must be adopted by the lean manufacturing system. Second step is the fair assessment of lean implementation within the organization and aligning the organizational processes towards this lean strategy. Organizations can get their activities accessed by any one, either by itself, from the people within the organization or from outsiders. Different modes of assessment, (external assessment, hybrid assessment & self-assessment), lend themselves better to different implementations as per requirement.
Self-assessment is done by people from inside an organization in order to understand the real gaps in the systems or the level of preparedness for facing an external assessment. This introduces a broader range of perspectives, and greater familiarity with day-to-day processes and its own set of potential challenges or problems. Case studies suggest self-assessments can be more time intensive, due to the added steps of coordinating and facilitating the assessment process, collecting feedback and reaching consensus among multiple participants. Despite this time commitment, the process is often less costly than managed assessment or having a dedicated internal department, since there are less external personnel requirements.
The world have developed and implemented different assessment models like MNBQ, Good to Great Diagnostic, Lean Enterprise Self-Assessment Tool, Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence. The scope of these assessment tools vary. Some have a broad scope that look at a broad range of organization indicators and performance metrics both internally and across stakeholders, while other focus in on a core set of internal indicators. Depending on the goals of the assessment and transformation plans, both the personnel involvement and the assessment scope are important factors in selecting the right tool.
Master thesis consist: 95 pages, 52 рисунок, 10 tables, 42 resources, 2 appendix.
