Application of additive manufacturing technologies in sheet metal forming processes
Аннотация
This work explores the prospect of using additive manufacturing (AM) technologies - commonly referred to as three-dimensional (3D) printing - in sheet metal forming prosses? particularly v-bending through rapid tooling.
Initially? a detailed description of the consept and applications of various AM technologies as well as sheet metal forming prosses is given. Then, using analytical, computational and experimental methods, 3D, printed PETG tools are designed, analysed and tested to assess their perfomance in bend forming soft and thin sheet metals. Later, an economic evaluation is conducted to determine the feasibility of this concept.
Obitained results confirm the technical viability of using 3D printed tools in sgeet metal bending and strongly indncate that using them in place of standard metal ones would sig-nificantly reduceproduct development.
