Аннотация

This research investigates the impact of digital development on international trade in OECD countries over the period of 2010-2019, employing econometric assessment methods and utilising data from reputable sources. The study aims to analyse the relationship between digital technologies and the volume, patterns, and dynamics of international trade in the OECD member countries. By incorporating variables such as the percentage of individuals using the internet, mobile cellular subscriptions per 100 people, and other key indicators, the study aims to provide insights into the transformative effect of digitalization on international trade dynamics. The two-step system GMM method is employed. The findings of the research are expected to contribute to a deeper understanding of the nexus between digital development and international trade, providing valuable insights for policymakers, businesses, and researchers.
The conclusions of the research revealed a significant and positive relationship between internet usage and volume of international trade in OECD countries and there is negative insignificant impact of mobile cellular subscriptions on volume of international trade in OECD countries. The empirical analysis demonstrated that as digital technologies advance, they exert a discernible impact on the international trade activities, influencing trade volumes, market access, and overall trade dynamics. The use of the two-step system GMM method with suitable instrumental variables allowed for robust estimations, addressing endogeneity and temporal dynamics in the data. The research findings underscore the critical importance of embracing and leveraging digital technologies to harness the full potential of international trade, suggesting practical implications for policymakers and businesses in the context of the digital economy.
