This work is devoted to a comparative analysis of the impact of international and internal migration on innovation activity in the regions of the Russian Federation. The first chapter of the work is aimed at studying the theoretical aspects of migration and innovation activity in the regions. The first chapter also describes the role of migration's impact on innovation activity in the context of sustainable development. The second chapter presents a selection of variables used in econometric analysis and a description of dependent and independent variables used in econometric analysis. In addition, this main source was devoted to econometric analysis in the STATA program. As a result of the conducted research, it was revealed that the lag in the balance of international migration negatively affects innovation activity in the regions of the Russian Federation, and the lag in the balance of internal migration positively affects innovation activity in the regions of the Russian Federation. A comparative analysis of the impact of international and internal migration on innovation activity in the regions of the Russian Federation has shown that international and internal migrants have a completely different impact on innovation activity in the country. The results of the study allow us to better understand which socio-economic indicators contribute to stimulating innovation activity in the regions of the Russian Federation.
