Аннотация

This study explores the relationship between exports, economic growth, and foreign direct investment (FDI) in Vietnam. The study shows a one-sided relationship between FDI and exports as well as exports and economic growth by estimating the VAR model against a database collected from the World Bank between 2000 and 2022. To clarify the relationship between economic growth, exports and FDI. From the causal relationship obtained from the VAR model, the author proceeds to analyze the impact of each pair of variables (FDI-exports and exports-economic growth). The analysis results show that Vietnam is currently and will be an attractive destination for FDI enterprises; an increase in FDI projects (or capital) will lead to an increase in exports. In terms of increasing exports, it helps to promote productivity enhancement and competitive advantage, helping to promote the transformation of export structure towards modernization and digitalization, thereby accelerating economic development. However, the post-COVID-19 global economic recovery also poses challenges for developing economies like Vietnam due to geopolitical instability and disruptions to international trade. The study recommends that Vietnam adopt a comprehensive export strategy and implement policies to build a resilient, sustainable economy capable of navigating a competitive global market in a changing context.
