Аннотация

The research draws attention to the significant role outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) plays in shaping economic dynamics within the AsiaPacific region. By focusing on the period from 2006 to 2022, the study sheds light on the evolving trends and impacts of OFDI, highlighting its importance in driving economic growth and development in home countries. The research underscores the necessity of understanding the mechanisms through which outward FDI influences home economies. This includes not only examining the direct economic effects but also considering broader implications for sustainable development, employment, and technological advancement.
The topic of outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) and its relationship with economic growth in the Asia-Pacific region is highly relevant in the contemporary global economic landscape. The Asia-Pacific region has emerged as a key player in the global economy, with countries in the region experiencing rapid economic growth and development. As a result, understanding the dynamics of OFDI and its impact on the region's economies is crucial for policymakers, investors, and researchers alike.
Furthermore, the topic is relevant in the context of sustainable development. While OFDI can bring about economic benefits, there is also a need to ensure that it contributes to sustainable development goals, including environmental protection, so-cial inclusion, and economic stability. Understanding how OFDI can be leveraged to promote sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region is therefore critical for policymakers seeking to maximize the positive impacts of foreign investment while minimizing its potential negative consequences.
The study investigates the relationship between outward foreign direct invest-ment (OFDI) and economic growth of the Asia-Pacific region covering data on 20 countries. The Asia-Pacific region has emerged as the largest contributor to global foreign direct investment (FDI), driven by an increasing number of companies engaging in outward investment activities. However, this surge in outward FDI prompts several important questions, such as how outward FDI can lead to positive outcomes for the investing countries and what mechanisms and policies are necessary to ensure that outward FDI contributes to the development of the home economy. To address these questions, this study aims to explore the potential of outward FDI to promote sustainable development and economic growth in the Asia-Pacific region. Specifically, it examines the trends of outward FDI in the region, links the effects of outward FDI with economic growth of home countries, proposes various measures and policies that countries can implement to maximize the benefits of outward FDI for sustainable growth.
