The relevance of this research topic lies in the growing recognition of the creative economy as a driver of innovation, employment and cultural uplift. Creative industries have the potential to develop urban areas, attract talent and foster entrepreneurship, thereby enhancing their competitiveness and economic sustainability.
The aim of the research is to assess the impact of creative industries on the socio-economic development of megapolises.
The subject of this study focuses on the role of creative industries for socio-economic development of megapolises, while the object of analysis focuses on economy of creative industries in modern megapolises.
The results of research have shown that the considered megapolises have both similarities and differences in terms of development models, qualitative quantitative indicators of contribution to the economy and instruments of implementation.
Creative industries and clusters play a crucial role in sustainable development by providing innovative solutions, raising awareness and integrating sustainable development into urban life. The formation of creative clusters is in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which emphasise the importance of investing in culture and the creative sector to improve society and address complex challenges.
To effectively harness this potential, it is crucial to implement some recommendations: Continuous monitoring and evaluation of key performance indicators in the creative sector will enable city authorities to make data-driven decisions and adapt their strategies in response to changing economic conditions. Moreover, establishing more creative clusters within the city can enhance collaboration, innovation, and knowledge-sharing among creative professionals and businesses. Finally, it is essential for city development strategies in the creative sector to align with and support the global Sustainable Development Goals.
