This paper examines the current state of trade relations between Russia and Mongolia in the food industry and identifies strategic directions for their development. International trade occupies a leading place among modern foreign policy problems and interests of the world's countries. The study of its essence, dynamics of development and modern structure is the most important element in determining the foreign policy of the state, its development strategy. Also, this topic remains relevant in the context of mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and Mongolia especially in the food industry, as upon completion of the Mongolian oil refinery construction the volumes of exported Russian oil will change and new segments of foreign economic activity should be sought. One of such segments is the meat industry, as Mongolia has very developed cattle breeding. In addition, the Russian Federation attaches great importance to the development of cooperation with Asia-Pacific countries, of which Mongolia is one, especially as the trade vector turns to the East. Also, Mongolia's geopolitical position makes it a significant partner for Russia in the Asia-Pacific region. Russian-Mongolian ties have a long history of good-neighborly relations, with Mongolia bordering only two countries, one of which is our country and the other is China. In this regard, the discussion of relations in the China-Mongolia-Russia triangle has intensified, where the share of Mongolia-China is 65% and Mongolia-Russia is only 13%. Mongolia's goal is to increase foreign trade turnover and it does not care with whom it will increase. But after the sanctions there was an increase in the turnover between Russia and Mongolia especially in the food industry and this trend should be strengthened.
