This research aims and seeks to analyze and determine based on theoretical and practical aspects the economic impact that there is in the country (Colombia) and the economic and social consequences produced by the migration of Colombians abroad driven by different factors such as social, political and economic reasons.
The reasons behind Colombian emigration, including economic, political and social factors, are examined, and the effects of migration on the Colombian economy, including remittances and brain drain, are analyzed. The analysis is based on a review of the academic literature and data were collected from official sources and organizations that work with Colombian emigrants who fled their places of origin and are scattered around the world. The results of the study and these findings for the design of public policies and economic development strategies that address the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities presented by Colombian migration abroad are discussed. Evidence found that Colombian migration has a multifaceted impact on the country's economy, with benefits in terms of remittances, but also challenges in terms of brain drain and loss of human capital.
