The development of digital technologies and their implementation in various sectors of industry and economy today are some of the key factors that ensure the competitiveness of developed countries in the global market. The digitalization of agriculture is a new stage in the development of the industry, which makes it possible to significantly improve production efficiency and product quality, as well as to significantly reduce production costs.
Developed countries have been actively developing and using information and communication technologies in the agricultural sector for the past two decades. It is interesting to investigate how the digitalization of agriculture can be a competitive advantage for countries where the share of this industry in the total volume of production is insignificant.
The relevance of the topic is due to the fact that there are not many publicly available studies and indicators that determine the level of digitalization of agriculture and its impact on the competitiveness of countries. The object of the study is the digitalization in agriculture. The subject of the study is the impact of agriculture digitalization on the competitive advantage of developed countries in the global market.
The aim of this paper is to investigate the impact of current trends, technology, strategies and financial aspects of digitalization in agriculture on increasing the competitive advantage of developed countries.
The study is based on the analysis of the Agriculture Digitalization Index, a survey of the population of developed countries on the use of information and communication technologies in the agricultural sector, as well as the analysis of a panel econometric model of the impact of agricultural indicators on the economy of digitized developed countries.
Moreover, this study presents the sustainability aspects of the digitalization of agriculture.
