ABSTRACT
The most important factor in the development of the modern global economy is the activation of international innovation activities. The degree of involvement in the international innovation market determines the overall level of competition in the country's economy. At the same time, innovative development is inextricably linked with digital processes. Today, digitalization is a fundamental technological trend that affects all sectors of the economy (from creative industries to mining and agriculture), as well as almost all spheres of society and human culture in general.
The existence of state programs and national projects clearly shows that the study of the phenomenon of digitalization is an integral part of the country's development. It should also be noted the positive effect of the use of digital technologies, noted in the scientific works of various authors who conducted research in the field of digitalization in the modern world.
The relevance of the study is due, firstly, to the increasing influence of the country's innovative development on its economic and social indicators and, secondly, to the tendency of states to reduce dependence on other countries. In addition, during the covid period, the pace of innovation in the activities of states and enterprises slowed down, while the process of digital transformation became one of the factors supporting innovative development during the crisis.
The purpose of this work is to assess the relationship between digitalization and innovative development on the example of the BRICS countries.
To achieve this goal, you need to perform the following tasks:
- assess the impact of digitalization on innovative development;
- identify the factors of digitalization that affect innovative development;
- analyze the digital statistical data of the BRICS countries in the period from 2002 to 2021;
- determine the degree of influence of digitalization on innovative development using an econometric model;
- consider the process of digital transformation in the field of sustainable development.
The object of the research is innovative development in the BRICS countries.
The impact of digital transformation on innovative development lies in the fact that through the introduction of digital processes, the quality and pace of innovation increases.
The result of the theoretical analysis of the impact of digital transformation on sustainable development is to identify the positive as well as negative effects of this process. Despite the improvement of communication processes and the transfer of technology and knowledge, digitalization increases the level of inequality among countries.
The literature review highlighted the works of authors who use various data, periods and indicators for analysis. Factors for the study are indicators of information and communication technologies, such as Internet users, cellular subscribers, specialists, imports of goods. Each article contains the result of the work, on the basis of which recommendations were given to States on policy changes in a particular area in order to improve indicators.
The innovative development of a state or enterprise shows the level of economic competitiveness among other players. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to the factors that can lead to the improvement of innovative developments. Digital transformation, in turn, embracing all spheres of human activity, simplifies and modernizes work processes. Thus, based on the literature studied, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between digitalization and the introduction of innovations, the degree of which affects economic growth.
Summing up the statistical analysis, we can conclude about the different degrees of development of the BRICS states. The level of innovation and information and communication technologies in China is higher compared to other participating countries.
This analysis expands the existing evidence base on the impact of digital transformation on innovative development. The results obtained indicate a positive relationship between the indicators. It is established that technology transfer strengthens the trend of growth of innovative development in the importing country. The introduction of advanced foreign information and communication technologies makes it possible to increase the production volume of domestic companies, increase competitiveness, reduce costs and, accordingly, increase profits. Modernization of not only individual enterprises, but entire spheres of activity will lead to an increase in economic growth rates.
The political recommendation is a proposal to government decision makers to develop a unique digital transformation strategy that will be most effective in the economic and social conditions of a particular country for the introduction of digital technologies.
The practical significance of the final qualification work lies in the fact that the model of the influence of digital transformation factors on the innovative development of the BRICS countries can be used for the purposes of forecasting innovative growth when digital factors change. In turn, the forecasts obtained can be used as a basis for determining policy priorities in the field of innovation.
