Nowadays, the issue of environmental protection is constantly being raised among the most urgent problems that need to be solved. Renewable energy sources are put forward by many scientists as a solution to the environmental problem. However, the impact of the transition to the use of alternative energy sources has not yet been studied enough. It can bring not only positive changes, but also potentially harm economic growth.
The purpose of the research is to study of the impact of renewable energy sources on economic growth in leading manufacturing countries.
Object of the research - economic systems of manufacturing countries.
Subject of the research - impact of renewable energy sources on economic growth.
In summary, in the process of research work, renewable energy sources role for sustainable economic growth, as well as their impact on economic growth in leading manufacturing. According to research results recommendations for developing of energy sector were suggested for energy efficiency achieving.
During empirical research, methods of econometric analysis were also applied by Stata software for analyzing panel data from World Bank Database and International Energy Agency for 11 leading manufacturing countries for 1990-2019. As the result of research, the first hypothesis of renewable energy significantly negative impacts on the economic growth in leading manufacturing countries was confirmed. Second hypothesis that was put forward was confirmed as well.
Despite its negative impact, it is actively developed sector because such energy acts as solution for environmental problem, dependence on oil and maintaining health, providing jobs. However, now their development is at a low level. Therefore, the process of energy transition for countries will be long and difficult, especially for countries that consume large amounts of energy in the course of various activities.
