In this research, we will try to understand which economic and social issues will be created by the rising sea level. I will focus on migrations engendered by rising sea level. The sea level will increase and will threaten coastal dwellings. In order to work on this task, I asked myself which solution would be the best for countries between migrations and coastline protections. I also ask myself which troubles those migrations will make. In order to answer this question, I had to calculate the costs of migration, the costs of protecting a coastline and the costs of repairing property. Then I had to analyze them. I found out that in the short term, as long as the water is not high, the best is to stay and protect yourself but one day, you will have to move. Many troubles will come with this migration such as starvation and unemployment. In this study I determined that protecting the coastline would be cheaper than compensating all damaged houses. I mainly worked with data from French governmental institution reports for flood costs and with data from the Netherlands for the protection costs.
