In world practice, tourism is considered as a multi-level system. The economic processes taking place in this system are studied at the mega level (world economy), macro level (national economy), meso level (regional economy of tourist destinations), micro level (tourist industry enterprises).
The tourism industry is a very specific and multifaceted area of economic activity, uniting organizations that produce both tangible and intangible products (services).
The key service provided to travelers who are on the road for more than a day is the provision of a place to sleep and rest in various types of accommodation facilities (hotel, hostel, boarding house, etc.).
Today there are more than 500,000 hotels and similar accommodation facilities in the world with more than 22 million rooms. The annual increase in hotel beds in the world over the past 20 years has averaged 3-4%, which indicates a significant growth in tourist accommodation facilities. At the same time, it should be noted that the current business conditions in the global hotel sector are characterized by increased competition, which in turn is due to the processes of globalization and concentration of the hotel business, the widespread introduction of new technologies into the business strategy of industry and hospitality enterprises, the active growth and development of the rental housing sector. , generally influenced by external economic, international and political factors.
The purpose of this work is to identify and study the leading trends in the development of the international hotel sector, as well as the hotel sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
