Оценка влияния пандемии COVID-19 на акции топливно-энергетических компаний / Estimating the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on shares of fuel and energy companies
Аннотация
The fall in demand for energy resources during the spread of COVID-19 occurred against the background of the introduction of restrictive measures to combat the virus. At the same time, a fierce price war between producers broke out on the oil market. The combination of these factors led to dire consequences for energy markets. The most notable consequences are observed in the oil market.
At the same time, the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting the financial system following the impact on the real sector. This makes the current situation fundamentally different from the global crisis of 2007-2009, when the opposite effect prevailed, making it even more relevant for research.
This study combines a review of the situation in the oil and financial markets, which are of particular interest in the current pandemic, by studying companies in the fuel and energy sector.
Thus, the purpose of this work is to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the shares of fuel and energy companies.
In the course of the work the following tasks are solved:
- to analyze the existing literature on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the shares of fuel and energy companies;
- to identify factors by which the pandemic may affect fuel and energy stocks;
- construct a model that adequately reflects the impact of the selected factors on fuel and energy stocks;
- based on the resulting model, draw conclusions about the impact of the pandemic on stocks of companies in the fuel and energy sector.
The object of the study is the relationship between oil and gas indices and the imposition of restrictions in connection with the pandemic coronavirus. The subject of the research is the historical data of oil and gas indices.
