The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly affected many sectors of the economy, but it is believed that certain sectors have even benefited from the situation, including the e-commerce market. The lack of ability to shop in the full sense of the word, the temporary closure of shopping malls and the fear for their own health have forced many consumers to resort to the services of e-commerce companies. The purpose of this study will be to analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the global e-commerce market and the largest market players. Firstly, the study examined the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the retail trade as one of the key elements of the market economy; secondly, it assessed the impact of the pandemic on the e-commerce sector in particular and analyzed the dynamics of key performance indicators of leading companies in the industry; thirdly, it considered the situation in the domestic market. The study showed that the COVID-19 pandemic had a positive effect on the dynamics of key industry indicators, such as the number of online shoppers and e-commerce sales. Company revenue and earnings per share (EPS) also trended favorably. The results of the study provide a better understanding of the importance of the COVID-19 factor for the e-commerce sector, concluding with conclusions about the future development of the industry
