The trends of 2021 and early 2022 confirm the reputation of the Russian equity market as one of the most profitable and volatile markets in the world. A new trend in its development has been the involvement of millions of private investors in equity investments, who have begun to play a leading role in maintaining the liquidity and stability of the stock market. This creates new challenges for state regulation in terms of creating the necessary environment for stability and informational transparency of the domestic stock market and security of domestic private savings invested in stocks.
The relevance of the topic chosen for the thesis is reinforced by the imposition of the transformation processes taking place in the Russian economy, the effects of the global financial crisis, as well as economic sanctions and restrictions imposed in the country.
The US and Russian stock markets are chosen as the object of research. This choice is due to historical and economic conditions. The fact is that the U.S. stock market is one of the most developed and from this point of view is indicative of Russia. The prospects of development of the stock markets of the USA and Russia are the subject of research.
In this research work we study methods to analyze stock markets, including the Russian stock market, the main indicator of which is the RTS index. In development of the Russian market stable (1995-2008), crisis (2008-2010) and post-crisis (2010 - present) phases are allocated; methods of the statistical analysis are used. The information sensitivity of the market is studied, in particular, its reaction to the imposition of sanctions is forecasted. The dynamic features of the market are studied and an analysis of the development of the American stock market and its comparison with the Russian stock market is made.
