The paramount relevance of the government policy effectiveness to promote nascent entrepreneurship analysis in the Asia-Pacific derives from the critical role of business development for achieving sustainable economic growth due to the high propensity of entrepreneurship to introduce new technologies that promote the spread of knowledge and their contribution to employment. Given the destructive effect of Covid-19 outbreak on the emerging businesses in the Asia-Pacific region, the principal contribution of governments is to eliminate the negative impact of the economic turmoil on domestic enterprises and citizens of the country.
In this context, the objective of the current study is to assess the impact of government policy on the growth of nascent enterprises in the case of 39 countries of the Asia-Pacific region. The object of the research is a set of measures of state support for nascent entrepreneurship in the Asia-Pacific region. The subject is the causal relationship between state policies towards business and the growth of the number of new ventures.
According to the analysis conducted based on the Quantiles via moments econometric approach, consistent government support measures are much more effective in stimulating nascent entrepreneurship than innovative government policies during economic shocks, especially in countries with lower levels of entrepreneurial activity. Besides, the availability of financial resources, such as credit, is crucial to the development of new enterprises, which can be observed in countries with any level of enterprise opening per year and can be taken into account by policy makers.
The thesis also highlights the sustainability aspect. The results of the current study can be utilized by policy makers to promote entrepreneurship.
