Международная торговля стран Восточной Азии: участие в международных цепочках добавленной стоимости и благосостояние стран / International trade of East Asian countries: the role in global value chains and welfare
Аннотация
When the key players on the global market are changing it is important to understand where the next economic center will be and to do that, I will evaluate one of the regions which shows great prospects in this regard. The total of nine countries which were divided into two groups are put under the study in this research. Theoretical base made by other researchers allowed me to determine and describe trade structures of countries within East Asia region, GVCs involvement, FTA trends and how these countries taking part in achieving sustainable development goals number 8 and 9. Two indices were chosen to evaluate GVC participation rate and comparative advantages for each of the selected countries as it is the subject of my research. Metrics of these indices allowed me to see the comparative advantage of each country, level of involvement in global supply chains and list similar patterns that were observed for each group of countries. Statistical and econometric methods were used to describe the dataset and find out the effects of free trade agreements and global value chain participation on national welfare. Main findings that were made in this work support the predictions about positive influence of FTAs and GVC participation on national welfare. In addition, patterns that were observed during indices analysis suggest that developed countries tend to specialize in advanced technology goods and financial services while developing countries have an advantage in labor-intensive goods and tourism services, the shift of specialization into more technologically advanced goods for developing countries was observed as well. However, further research on this topic can be made with these findings as a foundation.
