Robot is a machine capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automati- cally, especially one programmable by a computer, that was the Oxford dictionary definition of the word ’robot’. Since ancient civilization human invented many user-configurable automated devices which can be consider as primitive robots however the word ’robot’ was first used to denote a fictional humanoid in a 1920 play R.U.R by the Czech writer Karel Capek but it was Karel’s brother Josef Capek who was the word’s true inventor. The plow was simple: man creates a robot to replace him and then robot kills man.[1]

Actually history of robots had been started from ancient eras. In 1901, between the islands of Crete and Kythera, a diver found the remnants of what might only be considered a mechanical computer. The device is a complex mix of gears which most likely calculated the position of the sun, moon or other celestial bodies. The device dates back 2000 years and is considered to be of Greek origin and was given the name ”The Antikythera Device”. However historians consider the first attempt is return to 270 BC when an ancient Greek engineer named Ctesibus made organs and water clocks with movable figures. The concept for his clock was a reservoir with a precise hole in the bottom would take 24 hours to empty its contents. The container was marked into 24 divisions.

When talking about robots history we must mention Archimedes (287-212 BC), he didn’t invent robots, but he did invent many mechanical systems that are used in robotics today, as well as advancing the field of mathematics. In (10-70 AD) the hero of Alexandria, a Mathematician, Physicist and Engineer wrote a book titled Automata (Arabic translation, or in Greek ”moving itself”) which is a col- lection of different devices which could have been used in templates. He designed an odometer which can be mounted on a cart and measure distances traveled. He also invented animated statues, Aeolipile and wind-powered organ. Although this Aeolipile can be conceived simply as a trinket, it can be considered the forefather of modern steam engines.
